Flora & Fauna

Overview:

Flora & Fauna is a flower delivery app that allows users to easily order flowers for their loved ones. As the designer and researcher of the app, I was able to conduct usability studies and create mockups for the app. I created wireframes and prototypes that allowed users to order flowers with ease.

People found that they did not have a way for them to order flowers quickly and have them be delivered within the day. The overall goal was to make an easy to use application which displayed flower bouquets.

Problem:

Solution:

Make a platform for a local flower delivery company that has the least amount of steps, making it easy for users to order from.

Persona(s):

I wanted to form a deeper understanding of the users' goals and needs, so I created a persona based on the data of similar applications. The information to make the persona was based on the potential kind of people that would be ordering from a flower delivery application. I used the persona whenever I sought to detach from my perspective and reassess initial concepts.

Sketches

The main purpose of the sketches was to figure out a basic idea of what the layout of the application should be. This was based on similar applications that had the same overall goal as a flower delivery app. Throughout the design process, I was able to come back and compare the main differences and similarities between the sketches and the digital designs.

Wireframes

Using Figma, I was able to make both high-fidelity and low-fidelity designs. These wireframes were based on the first sketches that were shown above. In the low-fidelity designs, I kept it simple and easy to view with gray boxes indicating where images should go. At this stage, the wireframe was very simple and needed much improvement.

UI Design

In the next stages, I created high-fidelity designs, using images from Unsplash. The final designs were important because they would create a brand for the client. My visual style was more on the minimalistic light-colored approach to match the floral themes. Along with this, other popular ordering apps were used as a basis for the design. As of right now, these designs only fit a mobile application.

Next Steps

The next steps in this project would be to refine the prototypes and make sure that they are at a high level, usable design for users. Overall, I feel that the design was an easy way for users to order flowers, but the next step would definitely be to make it more polished. Along with this, another next step would be to make it a website version as well.
